In 1945 the Dake brothers purchased a small dairy and ice cream business in Ballston Spa, this was the first Stewart’s ice cream shop. Today, Stewart’s Shops employs over 4,500 people and operates over 350 shops across New York and southern Vermont. Our rich, 75-year history and success stems from our vertical integration, employee ownership and strong company values.

The Strand Center Theatre is a landmark of cultural and historical importance. Located in the heart of downtown Plattsburgh, NY, the Strand Center Theatre was originally built as a Vaudeville Theatre in 1924, and is currently on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2004, the Strand Center for the Arts (formerly the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts) purchased the Theatre and has since undertaken a Capital Campaign to restore the Theatre to its former glory.

TANYS combines the strengths of two organizations that have served nonprofessional theatre in New York State for a combined total of more than 70 years. The Theatre Association of New York State was formed in 1987 when the New York State Theatre Festival Association (NYSTFA) merged with the New York State Community Theatre Association (NYSCTA).
TANYS is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) and the Eastern States Theatre Association (ESTA).
